If you are not interested in continuing study and want to jump straight to start working, you can appear for various exams regularly conducted by the government. While it’s better to get at least graduated before you start working because a plethora of opportunities opens up after that. Still, if you are sure about starting earning after school, you can begin preparing for these exams.
National Defence Academy:
A lot of us want to serve the nation by joining armed forces NDA exam gives you the perfect stage to realize this dream. NDA is announced twice a year to recruit candidates in Army, Navy, and Air Force. It is a two-tier examination. After clearing the written exam, candidates appear for SSB interview which involves various tests of the physical and mental level of candidates.
Date of Examination:
This year’s NDA(I) exam has been scheduled for April 21st. Interested candidates can apply for NDA(II) which is scheduled for November 17, 2019. The official notification is expected to come around August.
For Air Force and Naval wings, the candidate should have passed 10+2 with physics and mathematics. But for Army wing, there is no such restriction. There are certain strict criteria including nationality, marital status and age of the candidate too.
Staff Selection Commission of India also organizes exams to fill clerical level positions. Most famous of these exams is the Combined Higher Secondary Level or CHSL exam. Candidates are recruited on the posts like Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants, Data Entry Operators, Lower Division Clerks, and Court Clerks in various departments. This exam has a three-tier pattern. The first exam is an objective type of computer-based exam. The second exam is a written exam that tests the language skills of the candidates. The final level is a skill test/typing test depending on the requirement of the post.
Date of Examination:
Application forms are available from March every year. The application process is entirely online. The exam is usually conducted in June or July.
Candidates who have passed 10+2 from a recognised board are eligible to appear.
Job in railways comes with its own perks. With an excellent salary and secured employment, you also get a chance to travel for free all around the country. Railway conducts the Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) exam for candidates who are interested in joining railways after completing their 12th. This is a two-tiered exam. The first exam is further divided into 3 parts carrying 200 marks each. The first part is just a General Ability test. The next section tests the knowledge of Physics and Chemistry. Finally, the last part comprises entirely of questions related to mathematics. After a candidate has cleared the first tier, he/she has to appear for a personal interview in the second tier, followed by a medical examination. While this year the exam was canceled by UPSC. There will be an official notification if UPSC decides to start accepting applications.
Government Exams after Graduation
As we mentioned earlier, completing your graduation opens up a plethora of opportunities before you. The government of India and all the state governments frequently announce exams for filling various posts. But two of these exams have been favorites of students since forever. They are SSC-CGL (Combined Graduation Level) exam and the UPSC Civil Services exam. Millions of candidates appear in these exams every year to fulfill od serving the nation as an officer rank government servant. UPSC Civil services exam has a unique charm associated with it that never fails to attract students.
