Explanation – Under the Act, registered NGOs can receive foreign contribution for five purposes — social, educational, religious, economic and cultural. Any NGO or association that intends to receive foreign funds has to compulsorily register under the FCRA, monitored by the Union Home Ministry.

Explanation – In the 2018 budget, the government of India made certain hasty amendments to a number of legislations, enabling foreign funding to Indian political parties. The legalisation of foreign funding has been bought into retrospective effect since 1976, which means that all foreign funding since 1976 would now not be under the purview of scrutiny. This was done by amending the provisions under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), 2010.

The following people are debarred from receiving foreign contribution:

• Candidate contesting an election
• Cartoonist, editor, publishers of registered newspaper
• Judges
• Government servants or employee of any corporation

In such situations, the weaker side often relies on unconventional tactics and relatively inexpensive weapons to offset the advantages of a stronger adversary.

Common features of asymmetric warfare include:

• Use of guerrilla tactics and irregular forces
• Reliance on low-cost technologies
• Exploitation of vulnerabilities in conventional military systems
• Emphasis on mobility, surprise, and adaptability

In recent years, drones have become one of the most important tools of asymmetric warfare because they can inflict significant damage at a fraction of the cost of traditional military platforms.

Explanation – The IMO is a specialised agency of the United Nations responsible for regulating shipping. It was established following agreement at a UN conference held in Geneva in 1948 and came into existence 10 years later, meeting for the first time in 1958.

• Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, IMO currently has 175 Member States and three Associate Members.
• India joined the IMO in 1959 and the IMO currently lists India as among the 10 states with the largest interest in international seaborne trade.

The IMO's primary purpose is to develop and maintain a comprehensive regulatory framework for shipping and its mandate includes:

• Maritime safety
• Environmental concerns
• Legal matters
• Technical co-operation
• Maritime security
• The efficiency of shipping

Explanation – The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar was instituted to felicitate meritorious children, individuals and institutions of the country.

These awards are given under two categories:

• Bal Shakti Puraskar — Aims to give recognition to children who have achieved extraordinarily in various fields including innovation, scholastic, sports, art & culture, social service and bravery.
• Bal Kalyan Puraskar — Given as recognition to individuals and institutions who have made an outstanding contribution towards service for children in the field of child development, child protection and child welfare.
• The Awards are given by the Hon'ble President of India in Darbar Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan on Veer Bal Diwas.
• Hon'ble Prime Minister of India also felicitates the Awardees.
• The Awardees of Bal Shakti Puraskar also take part in the Republic Day Parade on the 26th of January on Rajpath, New Delhi.
