Prepare for the Common Law Admission Test with the mentors behind North India's trusted civil services coaching. Strong reading, sharp reasoning and current affairs depth — the exact skills CLAT rewards.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the national entrance exam for admission to the 5-year integrated undergraduate law programmes (BA LLB and similar) at the National Law Universities (NLUs) that are part of the Consortium of NLUs. Top-ranked NLUs such as NLSIU Bengaluru and NALSAR Hyderabad admit students through CLAT, and many other law schools also accept CLAT scores.
CLAT is held once a year, usually in the first week of December. It is a comprehension-based test: instead of memorising facts, you read passages and answer questions on them. That is why reading speed, reasoning ability and awareness of current events matter more than rote learning.
Always confirm final eligibility in the official notification at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
The Consortium has kept the same pattern for CLAT 2027. The paper has five sections, all based on reading passages.
| Section | No. of Questions (approx.) | Weightage |
|---|---|---|
| English Language | 22 – 26 | About 20% |
| Current Affairs, including General Knowledge | 28 – 32 | About 25% |
| Legal Reasoning | 28 – 32 | About 25% |
| Logical Reasoning | 22 – 26 | About 20% |
| Quantitative Techniques | 10 – 14 | About 10% |
| Total | 120 Questions | 120 Marks |
CLAT cut offs are released as closing All India Ranks (AIR) during counselling. Below are the Round 1 closing ranks for the two most sought-after NLUs.
| NLU | General | OBC | EWS | SC | ST |
