Explanation - The Eastern Economic Forum was established by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation in the year 2015. It takes place each year in Vladivostok, a city in Russia. It serves as a platform for the discussion of key issues in the world economy, regional integration, and the development of new industrial and technological sectors, as well as of the global challenges facing Russia and other nations. The Forum business programme includes a number of business dialogues with leading partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region, and with ASEAN, a key integration organisation of dynamically developing nations in Southeast Asia. Over the years, it has emerged as an international platform for discussing the strategy for developing political, economic and cultural ties between Russia and Asia Pacific.

Explanation - To address the adverse living conditions of many tribal families living in forests was on account of non-recognition and vesting of pre-existing rights, a landmark legislation viz. Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, has been enacted to recognise and vest the forest rights. This Act not only recognises the rights to hold and live in the forest land under the individual or common occupation for habitation or for self-cultivation for livelihood, but also grants several other rights to ensure their control over forest resources which, inter-alia, include right of ownership, access to collect, use and dispose of minor forest produce, community rights such as nistar.

The Act recognises bamboo as an MFP and vests the ―right of ownership, access to collect, use and dispose of minor forest produce‖ with Scheduled Tribes and traditional forest dwellers.

The Union Government, in a landmark initiative, has promulgated the Indian Forest (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017 to exempt bamboo grown in non-forest areas from definition of tree, thereby dispensing with the requirement of felling/transit permit for its economic use.Hence, now right to fell the bamboos is granted.

Explanation - Ownership to land that is being farmed by tribals or forest dwellers subject to a maximum of 4 hectares; ownership is only for land that is actually being cultivated by the concerned family (as on December 13, 2005 and not thereafter), meaning that no new lands are granted. Eligibility to get rights under the Act is confined to those who “primarily reside in forests” and who depend on forests and forest land for a livelihood. Further, either the claimant must be a member of the Scheduled Tribes scheduled in that area or must have been residing in the forest for 75 years.

Section 2(i) of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 defines a Minor Forest Produce (MFP) as all non-timber forest produce of plant origin and includes bamboo, brushwood, stumps, canes, Tusser, cocoon, honey, waxes, Lac, tendu/kendu leaves, medicinal plants and herbs, roots, tuber and the like.

Explanation - Rajghat today is a neighbourhood in eastern Varanasi, but the archaeological site specifically refers to an ancient settlement on the city's northeastern outskirts, near the confluence of the Ganga and Varana rivers.

According to archaeologists, Rajghat is identified as the capital of the Kashi Janapada. Janapadas were territorial kingdoms that emerged during the later Vedic period; some grew into larger mahajanapadas by the 6th century BCE. Early Buddhist and Jain texts list Kashi as one of 16 mahajanapadas of the Indo-Gangetic plain. The wider Kashi region has several excavated ancient settlements — including Aktha, Ramnagar, Sarnath, and Rajghat.

Various research concluded that while Sarnath developed as a pilgrimage site, Rajghat grew into the main urban centre, with other settlements serving as peripheral, rural areas.
